this home tour, that i originally spotted on c home, is what my modern house dreams are made of. this gem is the mid-century silver lake home of jessica de ruiter, a fashion stylist, and her husband, jed lind, who worked on the design and maintained the home’s original architecture. lind works for one of my favorite firms to follow, commune design. i love the warm wood tones mixed with the eclectic textiles and minimal aesthetic. that front door…

interiors : jenni kayne’s contemporary california home
when i came across fashion designer jenni kayne’s beverly hills home tour on architectural digest, i knew immediately it would go in the ‘dream home’ file. the modern clean lines, the soaring wood ceilings, the custom millwork, and the steel frame windows won me over. i will be referencing this one as we design our new home. hope you enjoy!

a summer of news
i feel like i have so much to update…it has been a summer of new things:
a new nephew august! (now 5 months old and perfect)
a new license (finally)
a new 30 year old (my husband)
new fun projects
a new business – madeline johnson interior design, pllc (officially!)
new branding for mjid by arboreal creative
a trip to our cabin in montana, moose trail (a post coming soon)
and soon a new website(!)…i will be moving my blog to my business website and posting more hopefully.
so much has happened this year and i am so thankful for all the wonderful changes. i am the busiest i have ever been owning my own business now, but it feels great.

interiors : best of mad men
with the premiere of the final season of mad men sunday, i have been thinking on how far it has come in the past 6 seasons. this show was the beginning of my love for great television…(AMC, amirite?) the direction has stayed on point with the cultural references and fashions, and i am looking forward to what this season will bring. the writing still gives me chills, like the opening scene in the premier of don on the moving sidewalk reminiscent of the same scene in the graduate. let’s take a look back at all time favorite mad men interiors…
